Leadership U

Leadership U is Camp Loughridge's newest program. It is for 15 and 16 year old students who are interested in taking the next step at Loughridge. All girls and boys age 15-16 are eligible to fill out the application. This application allows us to maintain the personal ratio and intensified focus of the program. Once applications are received you will be contacted by the Leadership U director for further information.

Why Should We Leadership U?

The focus of this program is leadership development and preparation for becoming a camp counselor. The students will have the simultaneous opportunity to learn in a small group of peers along with their counselors and work with younger campers here at Loughridge. In order to recognize and respond to God's call, Leadership U will concentrate heavily on each individual's strengths and weaknesses to understand their discipleship journey, spiritual passions, and leadership style. We will then look at how these fit into the model of ministry Jesus lived in "Average Everyday Ordinary Life" and taught in the outdoors.

How Do We Manage to Leadership U?

Our counselors are trained in the outdoors and knowledgeable in camping skills and certified Red Cross CPR, as well as experienced through their multiple years at Loughridge.
Our low ratio of campers to counselors allows us to place the focus on individual growth and personal investment. We will spend a great deal of time getting to know the students so we can better equip them for Christian life and the call of outdoor ministry.
Ropes course activities are performed under the watch of certified ropes instructors.
ALL water activities are under the supervision of counselors who are certified lifeguards.

Do Not Be Fooled

This will be some of the most fun you will have this summer! Leadership U students will be able to participate in activities and ropes course elements that the other day camp programs do not get to experience. They will get to see more of camp by way of multiple-night camp outs on site. Students will also get to put their leadership skills and Leadership U training into practice with actual face time in campers' tribes!
